What they will soon come to realize is that the real work has just started. Some of these young adults will accept job offers immediately, and some will continue their search for a job that they ultimately desire. One thing that all of these college graduates will have in common is the job of preparing a great resume, and the job of being very well prepared for whatever interviews will come their way. Here are some tips for creating the perfect resume and some great ways to dominate any interview you attend.

When it comes to writing a resume, one of the first things that needs to be perfect is the punctuation and spacing. It may sound very simple, but if a Human Resource manager notices a spelling error or that something in the format is off they”re going to throw that thing in the trash right away. Another great tip for writing a resume, is to make sure there are certain types of key words throughout. One goal when applying for jobs should always be to try and separate yourself from the competition. When writing down what your job history consisted of, make sure to start each sentence with words like assisted and performed. Using words like this display a sense of professionalism, and will be much more noticeable on a resume versus starting a sentence with words like worked or did. Something else that should be displayed on any resume is a very noticeable header that clearly states who you are and your contact information. A resume is a summary of what you as a person have accomplished, so make sure that your name and personal information will be noticed immediately. While it is very important to use key words and phrases while writing a resume, it is just as important to make sure your resume contains some actual substance. When it comes to describing your job history make sure to explain what your job was, and how that job helped the company you were working for. You want to explain why your job was important and how it contributed to the overall goal of the company. Work history and education aren’t the the only subjects that can be on a resume as well. If you were apart of any clubs while in college, or you volunteered for certain events or organizations, it is important to write those down and just like the job history, explain what you did and what it ultimately accomplished. Having things like this on a resume show great signs of initiative and commitment.

After you have created the perfect resume and submitted it to your dream job, it is finally time to put on some fancy clothes and start the interview process. One of the first things that everyone should do when preparing for an interview is research the company they are interviewing for. Every person who interviews you will ask you a question in regards to what you know about the company and why you want to work for them. It is essential that you answer this question with facts about the type of work the company does, and why this type of work attracts you. Another thing that everyone should have when they to go an interview, is a folder with some sort of documentation and a notebook for taking notes. The documentation can be anything from a resume to a letter of recommendation. The reason you should always bring a notebook is so that way if anything is said that you must remember, you have the option of writing it down. Never come to an interview with just your cell phone and car keys, it can portray the idea that you were unprepared and are not taking the interview process seriously. At the end of almost every interview a person par takes in, they will be asked if they have any questions for the person that is interviewing them. It is very important that you come with prepared questions, they don’t have to be complex or difficult either. Some common questions to ask after an interview are things like. What kind of traits does someone who succeeds at this job have? Where do you see the company going in the next few years? A final question to ask can always be something like, would you consider me for this position, and when can I expect to hear from you again? Some of the final keys to interviewing are also some of the most simple aspects a persona can display. When you go into an interview be very honest and comfortable throughout the entire interview. Don’t stress out and stay as relaxed as possible, keep the thought in the back of your mind that while you are being interviewed for a job, you are also interviewing the company and deciding whether or not you would enjoy working there. Overall its important to stay relaxed and remain positive.
